EVAA Grantees Meet 2006 Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus

A group of EVAA members who had gathered a Taj West End, Bangalore to meet Ms. Goli Ameri, Assistant Secretary, Educational and Cultural Affairs and Mr. Thomas Farrell, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Academic Programs, U.S. Department of State were pleasantly surprised when 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus joined them for a few minutes. He was a Fulbright Scholar at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee (1965-66).  Dr. Yunus who was in Bangalore on a private visit, was persuaded by EVAA President Janaki Murali to meet the exchange grantees for a few minutes.  Praising Dr. Yunus for his work with Grameen Bank that reached out to thousands of underprivileged people and which won him the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize, EVAA members agreed that all exchange grantees should emulate his vision and determination to help the less fortunate.
