Welfare and Whereabouts
If your American citizen friend or family member is in South India and you are concerned about his/her welfare, or need to make contact with him/her in an emergency, the Consulate can help.
If you wish the Consulate to check on the welfare and whereabouts of an American citizen in South India, please contact the U.S. Consulate General in Chennai at 2857-4000. (When calling from the U.S., please remember first to dial 011-91-44.)
We strongly encourage all Americans abroad to register with the embassy or consulate nearest them. It is a quick process and can help your family to reach you in case of an emergency. To register, click here.
