Victim Assistance Program
If an American abroad is the victim of a crime, the Federal Bureau of Investigation can offer help though its Victim Assistance Program. (Every U.S. state has a local FBI office with Victim Assistance services: contact the one for your home state. )
For American crime victims in India, there is also an FBI office for the Victim Assistance Program at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi. Their telephone number is 419-8000. (When calling from the U.S., please remember first to dial 011-91-11.)
