Bangalore is the first city chosen for the presence of a Virtual American Consulate in India.  Consul General Andrew Simkin and Consul for Public Affairs Michael Pelletier launched the Bangalore “Virtual Consulate” during the fifth anniversary celebrations of the American Corner in Bangalore on September 16.  Managed by the U.S. Consulate General, Chennai, the site provides news, events, and services for Bangalore audiences, especially information about higher education in the United States, travel, visa and business opportunities. The American Corner, which has completed five years of service, continues to provide up-to-date information about the United States. More than 300 students, academics and members of the general public attended the event. The official U.S. presence in Bangalore plays an important role in strengthening Indo-US relations, especially at the people-to-people level.
