US Consulate Exhibition in Vaniyambadi and Ambur

Vaniyambadi and Ambur residents warmly welcomed the U.S. Consulate exhibition featuring a U.S. style Presidential debate, discussions on multiculturalism and diversity in the U.S., and presentations on the environment, education and visas.

The audience watched with great interest as students from 8 local colleges took on the roles of Barrack Obama and John McCain during a mock U.S. presidential debate at Islamiah College. Students, faculty, businesspeople and NGOs from Vaniyambadi and Ambur actively participated in this and other programs focusing on English language teacher training, the environment, education and visas over a two day period. Additionally, the Consulate donated a book collection to the Naya Madrassa including volumes on science, geography, and computers. The exhibition concluded with two short videos on the practice of Islam in the U.S. followed by a discussion with 250 students of Mazaharul Uloom College on “Multi-Culturalism and Diversity in the U.S.
