Living Legend Stevie Wonder’s Music – Signed, Sealed and Delivered to Chennai Audiences
June 27: More than 800 enthusiastic audience members sang and danced along with the performers as they belted out more than 25 of Stevie Wonder’s best known songs at a concert on Saturday, June 27, 2009 evening at The Music Academy, Chennai. The voices and music of artists Benny Dayal, Sunitha Sarathy, Devan, Anu Cheyyur, Keith Peters and otherS reverberated throughout the auditorium as they sang eternal hits including “I Just Called to Say I Love You”; “Part Time Lover”; “Ebony and Ivory”, “Superstition” and “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.” The Stevie Wonder Tribute concert was organized by The Exodus in association with the U.S. Consulate General-Chennai. Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Andrew Simkin highlighted not only the extraordinary contributions of Stevie Wonder to music, but also his support for several social and charitable causes including gun control, eradicating poverty and illiteracy, preventing alcohol abuse and helping underprivileged children. Consul General Simkin and the artists also paid a short tribute to another American music legend – Michael Jackson – who passed away suddenly on June 25.
