2008 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program Announced

November 15, 2007

NEW DELHI -- The United States Educational Foundation in India (USEFI) invites applications from interested Indian nationals between 21 and 29 years of age, currently teaching English at college level or training to be teachers of English for the 2008 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program.

The purpose of the Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program is to strengthen the instruction of foreign languages at U.S. colleges and universities while providing future teachers of English with the opportunity to refine their teaching skills, increase their English language proficiency and extend their knowledge of the cultures and customs of the United States.

Selected Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program fellows from India will teach Bengali, Gujarati, Hindi, Punjabi, or Urdu at select U.S. campuses during their nine-month non-degree grants, which begin in August/September 2008.  31 Indians have participated in this program since it first began in India in 2004.

The application deadline is January 1, 2008.  For further information, please contact Sarina Paranjape at the United States Educational Foundation in India, 12 Hailey Road, New Delhi – 110001, Tel: 011-23328944, Email: sarina@fulbright-india.org, Web: www.fulbright-india.org.
