“American Food Festival” In The National Capital Region, Delhi And Mumbai, September 14-October 7, 2007
NEW DELHI – Spencer’s, one of India’s leading retails chains, will showcase a wide range of U.S. products at an “American Food Festival” from September 14 to October 7, 2007 at 29 stores in the National Capital Region and Mumbai.
U.S. Ambassador to India David C. Mulford, officially inaugurated the festival on September 14 in Gurgaon, Haryana. Speaking at the inaugural event Ambassador Mulford said “We are particularly pleased that Indians are developing a taste for California almonds, grapes and prunes; Washington State apples; dried green peas and beans and fresh pears from the Pacific Northwest; as well as soy and other food products from across our nation.” U.S. Consul General in Mumbai, Mr. Michael Owen, will inaugurate events in Malad, Maharashtra on September 17.
The U.S. products to be showcased in the festival include almonds, apples, grapes, pears, prunes, soy products and a range of consumer food products from the Southeastern, Midwest, and Northeastern United States.
The “American Food Festival” has been organized by the Foreign Agricultural Service, U.S. Embassy, New Delhi, in coordination with Spencer’s and various American food industry groups.
