America Comes To Lucknow
Sept 5-6 “America Days” Program to Showcase U.S. Society, Culture
LUCKNOW – The American Center, New Delhi, will be celebrating “America Days,” an exposition of U.S. cultural and educational programs, in Lucknow, September 5 and 6, 2007.
“America Days” will feature a wide range of activities, including discussions on education in the U.S. with the city’s students, visits of senior Embassy officials with business and social leaders, street plays and musical performances by an American jazz group.
In addition to programs at various venues across the city, an “America’s Fair” will be held at Hotel Clarks-Avadh from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. September 5 and 6. The fair will include documentary film screenings and presentations on “Education in the U.S.A.,” “Diversity in the U.S.,” “Life of an American Cowboy,” “Indians in America,” “Muslim Life in America,” “Magic with Words: Poetry from your pen” and “American guitar styles.”
Detailed program information will be available at the fair’s inauguration on September 5 at 10:00 a.m. at Hotel Clarks Avadh. Entry to the fair is free and open to the general public.
Cultural programs in the city will include a public performance at Lucknow University by the U.S.-based Rhythm Road All-Stars Jazz Group at 7 p.m. on September 5 and talks by American novelist Indu Sunderesan on “Voices of Mughal Women in Fiction” at some of Lucknow’s leading educational institutions.
