Jazz Concert Heralds American Corner’s Third Anniversary
August 30, 2007
In celebration of the 3rd anniversary of the American Corner in Ahmedabad, the American Center, Mumbai, in collaboration with St. Xavier’s College, Ahmedabad, will present a jazz concert by the well-known New York-based “Rhythm Road Jazz All Stars” in Ahmedabad on Sunday, September 2, 2007. “The Rhythm Road Jazz All Stars” include Alvin Atkinson, Jr., on drums; Charlie Porter on trumpet; Ari Roland, on bass; and Eli Yamin, on piano.
A partnership between the U.S. Embassy and the Ahmedabad Management Association, the American Corner, the first of its kind to be established in India, helps to foster people-to-people ties between the world’s oldest democracy and the world’s largest democracy. It provides a window to the U.S. for the residents of Ahmedabad by making available to them accurate and up-to-date information on the United States, while also serving as a public platform for the screening of videos and films, book discussions, programs by U.S. experts and orientation sessions for students.
The jazz concert is a curtain-raiser for a full program of events commemorating the anniversary that will occur on September 6-9.
