American Center, SPAN Celebrate 60 Years of U.S.-India Relations

NEW DELHI - To celebrate the 60th year of Indian independence, the American Center will host a photo exhibit and a panel discussion sponsored by SPAN magazine highlighting "60 years of U.S.-India Relations" on Friday, August 10, 2007, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The evening will begin with the inauguration of an exhibition of historic photographs depicting significant moments in U.S.-India relations.  A panel discussion on the history of the U.S.-India relationship will follow the photo exhibit.  The distinguished panel will feature Lalit Mansingh, former Indian ambassador to the United States; Pratap Bhanu Mehta, President and Chief Executive Officer, Center for Policy Research; and Theodore G. Osius, Minister Counselor for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy.

Ashley J. Tellis, Senior Associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and a specialist in international security, defense, and Asian strategic issues will also join the discussion via video link from the United States.

Invitations for the August 10 program can be collected at the American Center Library, 24 Kasturba Gandhi Marg, tel. 23316841 extn: 2297, during normal working hours starting Wednesday, August 8.

The photo exhibit will be open to the general public from 9:30 a.m. 5:30 p.m., August 13-17, 2007 at the American Center.
