Statement By The U.S. Embassy

No U.S. Patents On Yoga Positions

New Delhi – The U.S. Embassy released the following statement today:

“The U.S. Government has conducted a search of all patents issued and no U.S. patents on yoga positions have been identified.  Recent media reports alleging that such patents exist are inaccurate.  Although the U.S. Government is unaware of any U.S. patents on yoga, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted patents on new and non-obvious devices that may be used in conjunction with yoga. However, those patents would not include any yoga positions.  This information has been provided to the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry.”
