The American Center Library Celebrates 60 Years In New Delhi

NEW DELHI – The American Center Library is marking its 60th anniversary in New Delhi with a year-long festival of events. A familiar landmark located in the heart of New Delhi, the American Center Library has offered world class library and information services to over three generations of Indian government officials, academics, journalists, and young people.
Speaking about the Library’s 60 years in India, U.S. Embassy Minister-Counselor for Public Affairs Larry Schwartz said, “The American Center is proud to have been part of New Delhi’s rich cultural and intellectual life since the time of India’s independence. Our Library has set the standard as an extraordinary venue for research and education. We intend to continue welcoming and working with Indian visitors in the years to come.”
The American Center Library will host a free entry Open House for the general public on Saturday, April 28, 2007, from 1:00 – 6:00 pm. Events during the Open House will include a performance by a Native American Hoop Dancer, a screening of the film A Civil Action, and information sessions on studying in the U.S. and library resources. Gifts and discounted memberships will also be offered during the Open House.
