Discussion on "Clean Energy Initiatives"

Chennai, April 19, 2007: The U.S. Consulate General, Chennai is proudly hosting a discussion on “Clean Energy Initiatives” with the participation of distinguished officials and experts from India and the United States.  The discussion will take place at the Consulate on April 20, 2007 between 6.30 and 8.30 pm.

The Consulate will employ  digital video conference technology so that Mr. Robert Noun, Executive Director, External Affairs, National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in the United States and Mr. S. Padmanaban, Deputy Director and Senior Energy & Environment Advisor, USAID, New Delhi, can join the discussion with local program participants, including:  Mr. Satapathy, Principal Secretary to Government, Energy Department, Government of Tamil Nadu; Mr. A. Elangovan, Chairman and Managing Director, Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency; Mr. D. Vaidyanathan, Principal Vice President- Industrial and Technical Consultancy Organization of Tamil Nadu, (ITCOT); Mr. R. V. Tyagarajan, Chairman & Managing Director, Thiru Arooran Sugars Limited; Mr. Hemant Lamba, Aurore Projects; Mr. Joseph Chaly, Vestas Wind Technology Private Limited; Mr. Suneel Parasnis, Country Director, New Ventures India; and Ms. Sudha Shetty, Alliance to Save Energy.

The program is timed to commemorate Earth Day and follows closely the first U.S. renewable energy trade mission to India, which took place this week and was headed by Assistant Secretary David Bohigian of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
