U.S. State Of Illinois Promotes Its Educational Offerings In New Delhi

March 16, 2007

NEW DELHI -- The American state of Illinois is promoting U.S. - India educational and business exchanges during its mission to India March 18-28.

On Thursday, March 22, the delegation will hold an informational session on educational opportunities in the state of Illinois in conjunction with the U.S. Educational Foundation in India. The session will take place from 10:30 a.m. until noon, and will be held at Fulbright House, 12 Hailey Road, New Delhi.

Illinois is home to 175 different colleges and universities, many of which are top-ranked in the United States.  Participants in the session will learn about the many opportunities the state of Illinois can offer and will hear from representatives of the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign (UIUC), University of Chicago, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIUC), and the Lake Forest Graduate School of Business.

Illinois is centrally located in the heartland of the United States and bordered by the great Lake Michigan, as well as the mighty Mississippi river.  Illinois campuses range from small private colleges in quiet rural settings to large vertical campuses in big-city locations.   From the cosmopolitan metropolis of Chicago in the north to the vast plains and farmlands of central Illinois to the rolling hills and great forests of the south, Illinois offers international students a multitude of excellent opportunities for education as well as recreation.

For more information, please contact Ms. Vijaya Khandavilli, U.S. Educational Foundation in India, at telephone number 011-42090950. More information on studying in Illinois can also be found at www.studyillinois.org.
