U.S. Undersecretary Of Commerce For International Trade Franklin L. (Frank) Lavin Arrives To Head Largest Ever Trade Mission
November 27, 2006
Mumbai – U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Frank Lavin arrived in Mumbai on November 26, 2006. He is in India until December 5, 2006 as head of a Business Development Mission to India. The Mission, which begins at the U.S. India Business Summit in Mumbai on November 29, 2006, is the largest mission of its kind ever led by the U.S. federal government.
Upon arrival in Mumbai, Lavin made the following statement: "I'm delighted to be back in India. When I was last here in May, one of the key requests that the Indian leadership made to me was to promote more trade with India. I promised to return and bring a delegation of American businesses. To fulfill that promise, along with me this week are 239 American executives who want to do business in India. This is the largest business mission in the history of the U.S. government. American companies make some of the best products in the world and we want to share them with Indian consumers. To that end, I am bringing the best of American businesses to meet the best of India’s businesses."
