U.S. Program Empowers Jamia School Students

Ambassador Mulford Honors First Batch

NEW DELHI – The U.S. Ambassador to India, David C. Mulford, in a special ceremony at the U.S. Embassy today, honored over 100 students for completing a special English language program sponsored by the U.S. Government in cooperation with Jamia Millia Islamia University.

Speaking to the students, Ambassador Mulford said, “The English language is increasingly important in today’s globalized economy.  I am very happy the United States supports this program affording opportunity to young Indians.” 

At today’s ceremony the Ambassador presented certificates to the 114 students from Jamia Senior Secondary School in New Delhi who completed the course.

Mr. S. M. Azfal, Registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia represented Jamia Millia Islamia University at the program.

Over 700 high school students participated in this English language program since 2004 in New Delhi, Jammu, Ahmedabad, Calcutta, Trivandrum, and Chennai.
