A medley of musical style
On July 17th and 18th music lovers in Bangalore were treated to a unique performance by American musician Timothy Hoffman, who played Hindustani music on Japanese instruments. Mr. Hoffman was accompanied by well-known Carnatic percussionist Anoor Ananthakrishna Sharma, and played ragas on the koto, a Japanese stringed instrument, and the shakuhachi, a Japanese flute. Both musicians participated in workshops and jam sessions with Indian musicians from the Geetha Manjari Music School as well as the Percussive Arts Centre and the Unwind School of Music.
Rock, Western classical and world music fans were also treated to this unique fusion of world styles at performances at the Unwind Centre and the Bangalore School of Music.
