Administrative Processing

Refused Pending Administrative Processing

Applicants are sometimes refused under section 221(g) because your case requires further procedure or review by our office or another U.S. government agency. At your interview, if your case required further administrative processing, you will be advised of these circumstances. You will receive a “pink sheet” that shows your case number.

When your case is pending administrative processing, you can check the status of your case online. Find your BATCH ID in the case status report and note the case’s status. Your case status will be one of the following. Please follow the appropriate instructions.

PENDING PROCESSING

Your case is still pending administrative processing. You may have filled out a questionnaire; you may have been asked to provide more documents. The Consulate cannot issue you a visa before processing is complete. The Consulate cannot waive the processing.

SEND PPT (PASSPORT)

You are required to submit the documents listed on the case status report against your Batch ID. Please mark the package “Attention: CHENNAISAO” and submit it through VFS Services. They may require a service fee. Please include the pink sheet. If you are asked to send a travel itinerary with your passport, please attach proof that your travel plans are still valid and necessary.

RESPOND TO QUESTIONNAIRE

We are awaiting your response to the questionnaire you were given at your interview. Processing cannot begin until we receive your response as requested. Here is a link to the questionnaire.

ABANDONED

Your case is considered abandoned if you don't respond within the stipulated period.
