PAS Activities Reach Out To Young People In Kozhikode

Students view the photo exhibit "Building Islam in Detroit"

On September 4-5, the U.S. Consulate General, Chennai organized a two-day traveling exhibition at the MES Women’s College in Calicut.  Cosponsored by the Muslim Educational Society, Calicut, the exhibition focused on the themes, “Environment and Education” and featured a display of books, videos, and the photo exhibit “Building Islam in Detroit: Foundations, Forms and Futures.”  Dr. Fazal Gafhoor, President of the Muslim Educational Society, Calicut inaugurated the exhibition.  Speaking at the occasion, he said that these kinds of activities help in building cordial relationships between countries by removing misconceptions.  More than 1000 students and faculty from schools, arts and science colleges and professional institutions viewed the Islam in Detroit exhibit, attended USEFI’s presentation on “Higher Education in the United States,” and watched Al Gore’s documentary on global warming, An Inconvenient Truth and the Oscar nominated feature film, March of the Penguins.
