Mark Mishkin
Mark Mishkin has served as Vice Consul in Chennai since November, 2008. After graduating with a drama degree from Tufts University in 1995, he worked for six years in the film and television industry in Los Angeles, California. His most gratifying industry job was as a story editor where he worked closely with writers developing screenplays. Following that, Mr. Mishkin taught World and U.S. History for five years at William Howard Taft High School also in Los Angeles. His students called him “Mr. Google” because of his encyclopedic knowledge of historical facts.
He obtained masters degrees in Planning and Public Administration from the University of Southern California before joining the U.S. Department of State. Mr. Mishkin is a long-standing member of the American Contract Bridge League and achieved the rank of Life Master in 2007. He served on the board of directors of his local bridge unit for years, the last year as president in 1999. He is also a national park enthusiast who has traveled to 49 of the 50 United States.
