Clean energy critical to meeting the world’s energy needs, says U.S. expert
From August 1 – 6, Mr. Griffin M. Thompson, Senior Energy Advisor for the U.S. Department of State, discussed renewable energy and energy efficiency issues with a host of audiences in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, ranging from academic institutions, think tanks, chambers of commerce and government officials. In these interactions Mr. Thompson stressed the need for renewed industrial and academic linkages between India and the U.S. in areas relating to alternative and clean energy technologies, and focused on the importance of these technologies to meet growing energy needs around the world. Mr. Thompson also discussed the many ways in which the U.S. and India can collaborate on clean energy issues through the Asia Pacific Partnership on Clean Development and Climate, a multinational forum which helps facilitate research and development, market access and market entry for clean technologies.
