American Corner In Bangalore To Celebrate Fifth Anniversary And The Launch Of The Bangalore U.S.Virtual Consulate

Chennai, September 14: The U.S. Consulate General, Chennai, and American Corner, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), Bangalore, will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the American Corner on September 16, 2009, at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Race Course Road, Bangalore.  Program begins at 11.00 a.m.

Consul General Andrew Simkin and Consul for Public Affairs Michael Pelletier will participate in the anniversary celebrations and launch the U.S. Virtual Consulate for Bangalore.

The Bangalore “Virtual Consulate” is the first U.S. virtual presence in India, which provides news, events and services for Bangalore.  The website is managed by U.S. Consulate General, Chennai.  For more details please access   http://bangalore.usvpp.gov

The American Corner serves as a window to life and culture in the United States and the first stop for accurate and up-to-date information about cultural, educational, political, economic, and social trends in the United States.  Resources include books, magazines, CDROMS, DVDs, and public access to the internet.  Services include open access to materials, reference services, photocopying, and invitations to programs organized by the Chennai Consulate.
