“Journeys Toward Freedom”
An Exhibition Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Pilgrimage to India, Displayed at Periyar Science and Technology Center, 25 Gandhi Mandapam Road.
Chennai, April 30: The U.S. Consulate General in partnership with Tamilnadu Science And Technology Centre will present the exhibition titled “Journeys toward Freedom” at the Periyar Science and Technology Centre, Gandhimandapam Road, Chennai-25. The exhibit will be inaugurated by Mr. Frederick J. Kaplan, Consul for Public Affairs U.S. Consulate General - Chennai on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. and will remain open to public until June 4th 2009.
Journeys Toward Freedom: The exhibition was produced to commemorate the 50th anniversary (1959–2009) of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.‘s pilgrimage to India. It has 15 panels with pictures and texts depicting Mahatma Gandhi’s leadership of the Freedom Struggle in India and its influence on Dr. King’s leadership of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States.
