"Journeys Toward Freedom"
An Exhibition Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Pilgrimage to India, Displayed at Sri Krishna Sweets, Purasawalkam, Chennai
Chennai, March 13: The U.S. Consulate General in partnership with Sri Krishna Sweets will present the exhibition titled “Journeys toward Freedom” at the Sri Krishna Sweets outlet in Purasawalkam, Chennai. The exhibit will be inaugurated by Consul General Andrew Simkin on Monday, March 16, 2009 at 4:00 p.m. and will remain open to public until March 26th, 2009.
Journeys Toward Freedom: The exhibition was produced to commemorate the 50th anniversary (1959–2009) of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.‘s pilgrimage to India. It has 15 panels with pictures and texts depicting Mahatma Gandhi’s leadership of the Freedom Struggle in India and its influence on Dr. King’s leadership of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States.
