2008 U.S. Presidential Elections Open House
<[>Chennai, October 31: U.S. Consulate General-Chennai is organizing a special OPEN HOUSE for citizens of Chennai to watch the unfolding of the results of the 2008 U.S. Presidential Elections at Taj Coromandel (Clive Dupleix Hall), Nungambakkam, Chennai on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 between 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
The OPEN HOUSE will include:
- Large screen live election coverage, analysis and results from the U.S. Department of State and Voice of America Satellite feeds along with CNN
- Special presentations about Indian-American candidates, the electoral process, and what a McCain or Obama presidency would mean for India by U.S. Consulate officials;
- Photo opportunities with life-size cutouts of the Presidential candidates;
- An electronic tally board with an up-to-the-minute Electoral College vote count;
- A mock polling booth to register informal votes for Chennai’s favorite candidate for U.S. President;
- Dedicated phone lines for callers to get the latest updates on election results
- Special display of books, periodicals and photographs on the U.S. Elections;
