Fulbright Program Opportunities for School Teachers from South India

Chennai, June 14, 2007: United States Educational Foundation in India (USEFI) announces the International Leadership in Education Program (ILEP) for secondary-level (classes 9 to 12) school teachers, teaching English, social studies, mathematics and science at schools in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and union territories in South India.  In addition to teachers from India, ILEP will bring together teachers from Near East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia to the United States for a six-month professional development program (January – June 2008) that will further develop expertise in their subject areas, enhance their teaching skills, and increase their knowledge about the United States.

The U.S.-based academic program will include coursework and intensive training in teaching methodologies, curriculum writing, teaching strategies and educational leadership. Selected Indian teachers will receive round-trip transportation, room and board and applicable allowances, and will travel on J 1 visas.
