Auctions and Contracts 

Vanakkam!  Below is a listing of upcoming auctions and contracting opportunities at the U.S. Consulate General Chennai.   

The auctions include both office and household equipment, furniture and appliances and are open to the general public – please read the information below for specific details and requirements.  

The requests for quotations (RFQs) are an opportunity for vendors and contractors to do business with the U.S. Government and are open to all qualified bidders.  Please pay close attention to the dates of the site inspection and the closing dates listed in the RFQs below, and come back periodically for new additions. 

Auction of Household and Office Equipment and Furniture on September 21 


AUCTION SCHEDULE & LOCATION

  • Viewing and bidding will take place on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, from 0930 – 1600, in the side courtyard at the U.S. Consulate General, 220 Anna Salai, Chennai 600 006.
  • Bids will be processed and winners notified on Friday, September 23, 2011.
  • Items have to be paid for by 1300 and picked up by 1400 on Saturday, September 24, 2011.


REGISTRATION PROCESS

  • Interested bidders are asked to call 2857-4409 to register their names between 0930 & 1600 hours on September 19-20, 2011
    Each bidder should bring government issued photo identity in original to facilitate entry into the compound and sign up for the auction.
  • Bidders have to provide a name, national ID number and a telephone number
  • Bidders have to bring a demand draft for INR 10,000; no additional entrance fee is required.


AUCTION PROCESS

  • A preliminary list of items will be posted on the consulate’s auction web site on Tuesday, September 20, 2011.  Please do not print this list.  Numbered bid lists and terms and conditions will be distributed on the day of the auction to all attendees.
  • At the end of each session or prior to departing, attendees submit their bid lists, regardless of whether they are bidding for items or not.
  • For transparency, bid results will be posted on the auction web site as well.
  • Winners are responsible for loading and transporting the items that they have won.
