ELT Workshop for Madrasa Teachers
 About 30 Madrasa teachers from Tamil Nadu and Kerala learned interactive English teaching skills during a 10-day English Language Training Workshop organized by the U.S. Consulate General-Chennai and The Seethakathi Trust.

On April 25 in the American Library, Vice Consuls Kris Fresonke and Kelly Kopcial, in celebration of National Poetry Month in the United States, discussed the influence India has had on American poetry over the centuries.

American Environmentalist Speaks on Climate Change and Wetlands
 U.S. Consulate General-Chennai celebrated Earth Day by welcoming Dr. Beth Middleton, a Research Ecologist with the National Wetlands Research Center, Lafayette, Louisiana, for a series of events focusing on the importance of wetlands conservation to protect the environment.

Focus Groups Comment on the First 100 Days of the Obama Administration
 On April 18, Consul General Andrew Simkin invited 50 academics, journalists, business and NGO leaders, and students to his residence to voice their opinions on President Obama’s first 100 days in office. The guests were also asked what the Consulate General should be doing to enhance mutual understanding between India and the United States.
